On May 9th 2002 author Jon Saxon landed at New York's JFK, with a small rucksack, his second-hand Pentax camera and $480, to be greeted by Sakis Hadjiminas' rally team, Eurosport Manhattan Rallying.

Thanks to their hospitality, along with another North America VW rally legend, Tim O'Neil, Jon would go on to piggy-back that year's rally calendar by day – allowing him to meet up with owners of modified Volkswagens in the evening, and by early morning seeking 10-second street cars.

Across the country differences were soon explored, travel plans broken, intimate moments shared, and friendships – as close as is possible when on the road – made.

Quarter Mile and Then Some is so much more than cars, motorsport and counter culture Jon got to truly see the very best this country had to offer – its people, and along with it, their openness and drive.
